Our project focuses on producing transplantable corneal tissue and has over 10 years of research behind it. We aim to address the shortage of donor tissue, as the cornea is the most transplanted organ worldwide and the second most transplanted in Mexico. Our focus is on:
- Designing a system for isolating and culturing corneal cells.
- Producing a biocompatible membrane to serve as a scaffold for transplanting the cells.
- Testing the tissue formed with the cultured cells on the membrane in a preclinical model.
